Description: The Local-Global History of Philadelphia: The Kazakh Population focuses on the Kazakh population of North/Northeast Philadelphia using contextual research to support interviews with Kazakh immigrants or first-generation Kazakh-Americans who reside or have resided in Philadelphia, recording their oral histories about their experiences in Philadelphia. Interviewees discuss their identities in relation to their experiences and how others perceive them – both in the context of Philadelphia and in general – and how this effects their experience as well.
